normally taxi owners would be using Ford Falcon /Territory or Toyota Camry or Holden Commodore

but with the demise of the local auto industry there have been some weird choices

Taxis here were usually the Toyota Avensis. Since its demise they're going for the Octavia instead.

My mates dad is a taxi driver and he has a passat currently, says it’s heaps more reliable then the Ford Mondeo  he had.

Octavia and S uperb have always been popular down in Brighton. People like to shit on VAG reliability and longevity but the sheer number I see around with galactic miles contradicts that stereotype.
